Canon Allisyn Thomas Bids Farewell

The Rev. Canon Allisyn Thomas says goodbye to the congregation.

by The Rev. Canon Allisyn Thomas on November 10, 2021

For the last three years it has been my great joy and honor to serve at St. Bart’s. Through the good times and the not so good times (and there have been both),  I have been blessed and challenged in ways that deepened my faith tremendously and renewed my desire to be a force for Jesus’ all-inclusive love, justice and peace in a world sorely in need of good news.
Working with all of you has been an important part of that for which I am grateful beyond words. And as it says in the Hebrew scriptures, to everything there is a season. Following a time of prayer and discernment I am writing to let you know I will retire at the end of the year for family and personal reasons. My last weekend at St. Bart’s will be January 1 and 2, 2022.
With the Rev. Dr. Bill Doggett, our Interim Rector, the Rev. Cathey Dowdle, assisting priest, and the Rev. Bill Zettinger, our deacon, St. Bart’s is well positioned in terms of clergy, as well as a strong and faithful laity to move forward into what God is already stirring up within the heart of this blessed place. The leadership of so many here is a testament to your faith and commitment to the on-going and ever unfolding ministry of this blessed community.
During my time here you have supported, challenged, at times cajoled, made me laugh, and inspired me. The privilege  of walking alongside you in your lives and ministry has touched me in more ways than I can ever begin to describe.  Thank you.
Please know the entire St. Bart’s community will always remain in my prayers and heart. This has been a most blessed time and I look very much forward to seeing what God and you will do together!
