Vital Signs

We all know that the basic vital signs—pulse, respiration, temperature, and blood pressure—are measurements of our body’s critical functions. With these numbers, a person’s overall well-being can be quickly assessed. The same is true for churches!

Now, I’m sure there have been doctoral dissertations written on the vital signs of healthy churches, but I don’t want to make this complicated. This Sunday is our Annual Meeting, and I want to share with you my observations and measurements of St. Bart’s vital signs. The trends are good. The body of Christ at St. Bart’s is on the mend.

Please come this Sunday at 10 a.m. for Holy Eucharist, followed by the Annual Meeting. (There is no 8 a.m. service.) Your Vestry has a wonderful picnic planned for you afterward—if it’s raining, we will all be inside at long tables! And Jacob will be taking photos for the church directory. After lunch, the body of Christ at St. Bart’s—that’s you!—will assemble 100 brown bag lunches for our unhoused siblings who are served through Interfaith Community Services.

Rain or shine, it’s going to be a wonderful Sunday. I can’t wait to share the day and our vital signs with you!
