Quito Bound!

Last Sunday, we ended our Season After the Epiphany with some exciting news: Three high schoolers and one chaperone from our church are going to Ecuador this summer! Cal, Sofia, Jacob, and Brayden announced that they are part of a diocesan delegation going on mission—a delightful sign of our times returning to near-normal after the pandemic. “This will be a wonderful opportunity to immerse our youth in another culture, and to serve our siblings in Christ as part of the Anglican Communion in Ecuador,” says Jacob.

At the end of June, our foursome will be part of an 11-person delegation comprising eight youth and three chaperones. “Home” will be El Salvador Episcopal Church in Ambato, just outside of Quito. Our diocese says, “They will grow in faith and love while building relationships with neighbors halfway around the world!”

How can we help? First, pray for this delegation: Pray that they see Christ in all those they encounter. Pray for the richness of their experiences and of all the lives they touch. Pray that they return home with many stories to share with us! Second, help the youth with their fundraising to pay for the trip. St. Bart’s will help Brayden, Sofia, and Cal with part of the cost, but all eight youth need assistance to make this trip work. There will be an official fundraising event at St. Bart's on May 11, but if you would like to help now, you can make a donation now. Let’s be sure to send this delegation off with everything they need!
