Mother Nina: Today I cede my rector's note space to a beautiful message from parishioner Carla Morrisey. She reminds us of the power of our love in our faith community.
Along my journey of healing, my prayer quilt has been my comforting companion. Sown by loving hands many years ago, it has been with me through five surgeries. The material is getting threadbare in spots, and several holes have been patched with appliqued butterflies. The prayer knots are tangled and frayed, and the batting is quite flat.
On my quilt’s last journey, many blessed hands added new ties, and my St. Bart’s family tied into the quilt more prayers of comfort and love.
The journey hasn’t been easy and there are more months of healing ahead, but my tattered quilt has provided much warmth and comfort along the way.
More importantly, on those painful and sleepless nights, I could run my hand over the prayer knots, which were a very tangible feeling of your love, comfort, and concern.
Thank you, my St. Bart’s family,
Carla Morrisey
