Meet Rev. Nina
The Rev. Mother Nina Bacas, Rector
About Rev. Nina
Nina (rhymes with Hi Ya!) is a third-generation native San Diegan and graduate of UC San Diego. She began her career in aerospace and teaching but ultimately found her call to the priesthood in her husband Andy’s home state of Virginia.
She is a graduate of Virginia Theological Seminary with degrees in Christian Formation (2015) and Anglican Studies (2020). She led family ministries at several churches in the Diocese of Virginia and served as a religion teacher and chaplain at two Episcopal schools. Nina participated in missions and pilgrimages to Haiti, Tanzania, Ghana, and Israel.
She loves St. Bart’s because of all the vibrant and diverse expressions of God’s love in the congregation. Nina says, “This church has the spark!”
She and her husband are delighted to be back in San Diego. They have four adult children and now live in Rancho Bernardo with their two cats.
Fun fact: She was a barrel-racer in middle school and still loves horses.
